Sugar Bear is as Sweet as can be!

Good morning and welcome to Adoption Update Monday! This is a weekly series where we highlight past adopters and their stories! Today’s updates comes to us from Sugar Bear’s family:

“Here is a quick update on our first year with the precious 10-year-old Chihuahua we adopted from your Marathon rescue on Thanksgiving 2023.

I fell in love with Sugar Bear‘s photo on your adoption page,I knew after reading his description he would fit in perfectly with our bossy min pin girl , our marshmallow personality cavalier boy and independent cat ( 2 of which are also rescues). His soulful eyes and huge ears melted our hearts and he joined our family right after Thanksgiving 2023.

He learned from your wonderful rescue that he was found after having lived on the street for quite a while, skiddish and shy, super skinny with bleeding feet and overgrown nails with all kinds of skin issues. When he came home with us he was still very skinny but well on his way to recovery. After some much needed dental treatment he began to flourish, he gained much needed weight and his coat became lush and shiny. As much as we enjoyed watching his physical transformation, to see his true personality come out was extremely rewarding and so fun to witness: his first bark after weeks of silence, his goofy, playful personality, this fiercely protective 9 lb love buggy’s wiggled his way into our hearts.

Skippy spends his fall, winter and spring going between Wellington and the Keys. He has become and expert traveler and is great in the car as well as in the airplane. He thoroughly enjoyed his summers in Connecticut, Kentucky and Traverse City, Michigan.

We are looking forward to many more years with this sweet little soul!

Thank you for the wonderful work you do, what a difference you make in so many animals’ and people’s lives!!

Forever thankful, the Mannis family❤️
