Jaxson Finds his Forever Home!

Good morning and welcome to Adoption Update Monday! This is a weekly series where we highlight past adopters and their stories! Today’s update comes from “Mitch” aka Jaxson’s mom:

We adopted Mitch February 13,2024. A day that we are so thankful for. And also so thankful that your male staff member (I wish I could remember his name!) called us back from our car to come back in to meet Mitch (we didn’t have an appt!). We fell in love with Mitch, snatched him up and headed home completely not expecting to make a decision that very day!!

He is now named Jax (Jaxon means “healing” in Australia, which is what he was helping us to do after losing our 16 yr. old Border Collie, rescued by my husband at 1 yr old, two

Years ago).

I can’t say that we didn’t have our struggles for the first few months, or that tears weren’t shed, but fast forward to today and he has become the greatest blessing we could have ever asked for❤️

We live in Big Pine 6 months and Michigan 6 months. We got back to Michigan in April of this year. In July we decided to enroll him in a 30-day board and train as despite training him every day, I wasn’t able to overcome his pulling on a leash and some major reactivity issues. THIS was the best decision, and investment, we ever made. While he is still a little “reactive”, he is 80% better!! We walk a mile or more about five days a week to keep him socialized and exposed to sights and sounds that trigger him.

He is the BEST BOY!!! We are so in love with him!!

We are back in Big Pine and he is doing amazing!! Still not a huge fan of the deer but this smart boy has learned that being “quiet” when they enter his territory brings him a treat ; )

Thank you SO much for what you do. I’m sure your job is heartbreaking at times so I had to share some love and positivity : )
