Facilities UPDATE: The FKSPCA and COVID-19

FKSPCA Closing In-Person Office Hours at Both Locations

In response to the CDC’s guidance to implement social distancing to slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and in an effort to protect our employees, volunteers and customers, the FKSPCA will be suspending in-person services at its two locations effective Friday, March 20, 2020. The FKSPCA is also prioritizing in-person animal control services in the field. The FKSPCA will only be responding to emergency animal-in-distress calls, injured animal calls or requests from KWPD and MCSO in person. All other reports will be taken by phone and handled appropriately.

If you have an animal emergency as defined above in Key West (MM0 to MM16.7) please call 305-304-5964. In Marathon (MM16.7 to MM70), please call 305-394-7806.

We will be answering phone calls at our Key West and Marathon Campuses Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.  If your call is not an Animal Control emergency, your call will be answered or responded to during those days and times.  You can also email our shelters at info@fkspca.org.

ADOPTIONS & FOSTERING:

If you are interested in adopting a pet, we ask that you visit our website at https://fkspca.org/adopt/ to view animals up for adoption. If you find an animal you are interested in please call the campus where it is located.  For animals in Key West 305-294-4857 or in Marathon 305-743-4800 to schedule a phone adoption interview. You will be asked to complete the adoption application and email it back to us. Once we receive your adoption application, an adoption counselor will call you and discuss the animal you are interested in over the phone.  We will then arrange a time to meet the animal when appropriate.

If you are interested in fostering a pet during this time, please contact Lindsey in Key West at lindsey@fkspca.org or Tara in Marathon at tara@fkspca.org .

SURRENDERING OR LOST & FOUND PETS:

If you have a pet to surrender, we ask that you call the shelter to make an appointment. If you live in MM0 to MM16.7, please call the Key West location at 305-294-4857. If you live in MM16.7 to MM70, please call the Marathon location at 305-743-4800.

If you have found an animal in either of these locations we ask that you first try to locate the owner by calling us to make a found report, placing flyers, posting on the Key West Lost Pets Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/358476147620862/ and the Florida Keys Lost Pets Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/LostandFoundPetsFloridaKeys/ . If you cannot hold on to the animal please call the location in your area and we will ask that you bring it to the shelter and follow instructions for placing it in the outside kennel and complete the paperwork.

If you have a lost pet please call us to make a lost report and check both Facebook pages listed above. We will check to see if your animal is with us. If it is, we will ask that you come to the shelter in your location to pick up your animal. Please note we are not accepting cash for fees at this time. Please prepare to pay with credit or debit card only. If you cannot pay with this form of payment, please communicate that with the team member you are speaking to. We will meet you outside with the appropriate paperwork for you to sign and bring your animal to you.
