Higgins was surrendered for adoption just before he was 2 years old and turned out to be Heartworm positive. Without regular prevention, pet can contract this deadly disease, which is expensive and lengthy to cure. Once Higgins was no longer needing medical care, he was adopted in January 2025. Sadly, within the same month his new adopter passed away and he was returned to the FKSPCA. Being a bigger dog and a Rottweiler, it's safe to say he may be in our care for some time. While we hope that is not the case, sponsoring this big sweet boy is essential to his ongoing care.
