Meet Joe Wooten:
Meet Joe Wooten, a friendly face you probably recognize around Key West.
Originally from Texas and later Illinois, Joe has called Key West home for over a decade. He enjoys spending his days with his fiancée, Keenan, and their Siberian Husky, Koda. He loves our island, and we can all agree that island life suits him well.
His dedication to his community has been a lifelong quality. Joe proudly served in the Marine Corps (mmmmm...Crayons) for ten years in the infantry, where he rose to Staff Sergeant. During his time in the Marines, Joe maintained multiple deployments to Asia and the Middle East, including Iraq, and was an instructor at the School of Infantry. Once settled in his new Key West home, he attended Florida Keys Community College, obtaining his certification and becoming a dive instructor. He then worked at Captain's Corner Dive Center for many years.
Always ready to help, Joe's actively involved in the community. He volunteers for "Tats for Tatas," hosted at Tattoos and Scars each year, and supports Womankind. He has also lent a helping hand to local events like washing cars for Samuel's House's "Miss Island Queen," bed races for Sister Season Fund, and unloading Christmas trees for MARC house. He also sings in a local caroling group, Santa's Sack, every Christmas.
You might spot Joe around the island bartending at Bearded Lady and 22&Co, or representing the J.F. Haden liqueur brand. Or maybe just playing with kitties at the FKSPCA! While part of a very competitive bocce team, his gameplay is always fun and good-natured. Let's face it, the party follows Joe wherever he goes.
Joe is incredibly excited to be running for Fantasy Fest King. His passion for animals and his Key West community made his entry into the campaign an easy "Yes".
