Meet Cindy Bensen:

Cindy is a native of Newton, North Carolina. Having grown up in a family with lots of animals, she gained a respect for all animals at an early age. She has always had a profound appreciation for animals and their welfare. While living in SC she was known affectionately as "The Turtle Lady" by her friends for her knack of rescuing local turtles in perilous situations with many saves to her credit. Currently residing full time here in Key West, Cindy is an active member of Save a Turtle, where she walks the beaches at dawn in search of new sea turtle nests. Her commitment to animal welfare is further highlighted by her past service on the Board of Directors of the Watauga Humane Society in Western North Carolina.

Cindy has over 20 years of experience as a real estate broker in North Carolina and six years as an associate broker in Key West, currently working for Berkshire Hathaway Knight and Gardner. Cindy is also the co-owner of BW Education in North Carolina, where she instructs continuing education courses.

Cindy moved to Key West in 2017 with her husband Chris (who serves on the board of directors for the KW Wildlife Center). She is extremely proud to call Key West her home and has embraced the island lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys boating and birding in the Florida Keys and the Everglades National Park.

Cindy is an avid supporter of FKSPCA and is honored to be running for Fantasy Fest Queen 2025 to support the amazing animals that are so dear to her heart.
