Giving Opportunities

The Florida Keys SPCA is proud of the work we do for the less fortunate animals in our community. We are here to speak for those without a voice. So we are asking for your help – for them. The high quality of care we provide for the animals is only possible with your tax-deductible donation. On behalf of the animals, we thank you for your support.

The Florida Keys SPCA accepts donations of cash, check, or credit card. Make a donation on-line through PayPal with the DONATE buttons found on our website. If you would like to make a donation on-line in memory or in honor of someone, please download our tribute form and fax or email it to us so that we can acknowledge your donation to that person or their family.

General Donation
The FKSPCA is contracted by Monroe County to provide animal control and adoption services. The funding provide by this contract falls woefully short of the actual costs incurred to properly care for the animals that come through our shelter, or to provide essential services to our community. Your donation to the general funds will help us to meet the basic needs of the animals.

Oscar’s Fund
While most animals enter our shelter in good health and ready to be adopted, many come in sick or injured. These animals often require extensive veterinary care and/or medication before they can be placed for adoption.

This fund was named for Oscar, a miniature Schnauzer. Oscar was thrown from a moving vehicle on Duval Street. He suffered a fractured shoulder and numerous abrasions. He was also found to be badly matted and full of fleas. Further testing indicated that Oscar was infected with potentially deadly heartworms. Under the care of Dr. Kristen Jensen at All Animal Clinic, Oscar’s shoulder healed. And, under the care of Dr. Ronit Berdugo, Oscar was rid of heartworms. Oscar has been adopted and has a wonderful new family.

So that all animals that come into our shelter get the same chance as Oscar, we established Oscar’s Fund. Donations to this fund go specifically to pay for the medical care of sick or injured animals.

Special thanks go out to Drs. Lisa Bramson and Kristen Jensen at All Animal Clinic and Dr. Ronit Berdugo for their tremendous support in caring for the animals at the Florida Keys SPCA.

Building Fund
Where are your feet when it rains? The animals at the Florida Keys SPCA shelter in Key West are likely standing in water – inside their kennels! Our current facility floods often in the frequent rainstorms seen in the Keys. In addition, our old concrete walls are crumbling around us. Our Key West facility is in such disrepair that we must place all our animals into foster homes each and every time a hurricane threatens. We have plans to build a environmentally-friendly, LEED-certified, hurricane-resistant shelter, but we need your help to make this happen sooner!

Spay/Neuter Clinic
The Florida Keys SPCA offers low-cost, high-quality spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs. Fees are waived for individuals indicating financial need.

We offer free spay/neuter surgeries for feral cats as part of our community trap-neuter-release assistance. In addition, we offer free spay/neuter surgeries for Pit Bull and Pit Bull mixes through our Pit Fix Program.

Spay/Neuter is the most important step we can take to reduce the amount of unwanted pets entering animal shelters. Your tax-deductible donations will help us continue this important service.
